Meet the Founder
The person behind Simpli — and the close-knit team of eDiscovery veterans building alongside him.
Michael Mullen is the Principal Architect and founder behind our platform. With over 20 years in technology and a rare dual background in Computer Science and Law, he uniquely bridges the gap between sophisticated legal requirements and high-performance software design. His entire career has tracked the evolution of eDiscovery — from its foundational days through to the current frontier of intelligent, automated discovery.
His career has been defined by solving mission-critical problems for the world's most demanding organizations. He's architected discovery solutions deployed by global law firms, financial regulators and national public prosecution services. He's led development teams for Fortune 500 enterprises and designed mission-critical systems spanning industrial-scale logistics, real-time fleet management, and even pioneered the first generation of digital courtroom environments across multiple jurisdictions. Every system he's built has been battle-tested at enterprise scale.
Unlike many technology leaders who lose touch with the "how" of software, Michael remained an active developer even as Chief Technology Officer — staying deep in code to ensure his vision is operationally sound. Today, he's driven by a conviction that bloated, vendor-locked platforms have abandoned the needs of their users. Our platform exists because he believes a small, highly skilled team with deep domain expertise can deliver cleaner, more intuitive discovery tools — software that scales seamlessly from single-user desktop to enterprise cloud, gives organizations control of their data, and removes the complexity that slows down legal teams.
